Our free Roaming destinations.

Our Roaming fair usage policies are in place to prevent our free Roaming feature from being misused. Customers who joined iD on or after 21st June 2023 can use up to 30GB data from their plan while Roaming (each month) in our 50 destinations at no extra cost.

Joined iD or Upgraded on or after 21st June 2023

You can find the exact date that you joined iD Mobile at the top of your 'Contract Summary' document under the 'Pay Monthly Agreement' section.

Permanent Roaming.

We understand that sometimes you'll want to roam for a few weeks at a time or take an extended trip. However, it is important to remember that if you spend more time abroad than you do in the UK over a 4-month period, we might think you're permanently Roaming. If you do spend more time abroad than in the UK over a 4-month period, we'll have to take the following actions:

  1. First, we'll send you a text reminding you of the fair usage policy.
  2. If you don't change your usage behaviour to comply with our policy, we'll also ask you to provide proof that you do still have strong ties to the UK, like a UK bill or bank statement.
  3. If you don't/can't provide any proof of having strong ties to the UK, and you continue to roam more than you use your plan in the UK, we'll have no choice but to apply an additional charge to your EU Roaming usage.
  4. Finally, when this additional charge is applied, we'll send you another text message - to make sure you're aware of the situation, giving you a second chance to stop Roaming to avoid charges.

The additional charges applied to your plan if you're a permanent roamer that continues to use their allowances abroad are:

  • 3.2p per minute per call.
  • 1p per text.
  • 10p per MB of data.

Fair usage policy.

Our open data fair usage policy no longer applies, meaning customers who joined iD or upgraded on or before 20th June 2023 can use their full data allowance in our 50 free Roaming destinations without incurring a surcharge.

Fair usage policy.

Our fair usage policy protects the great value we offer whilst allowing you to enjoy our Roam free feature. This lets you use your standard monthly allowances (up to 30GB) at no extra cost across our free Roaming destinations.

How it works:

  1. If you're on a plan with less than 30GB, you can use your full monthly data allowance. If you've got any rolled over data or add-ons, you can use them at no extra cost while your combined data usage is under 30GB. If you go over the 30GB limit, we'll add a surcharge of £3 per GB for the remainder of your data allowance, including any rolled over data or add-ons. Afterwards, you'll be charged at the standard out-of-plan data rate of 10p per MB of data.
  2. If you're on a plan with 30GB or more (excluding unlimited plans), you can use your monthly data allowance up to 30GB. After that, we'll add a surcharge of £3 per GB for the remainder of your data allowance, including any rolled over data or add-ons. Afterwards, you'll be charged at the standard out-of-plan data rate of 10p per MB of data.
  3. If you've got an unlimited data plan, you can use up to 30GB a month while Roaming free of charge. If you go over the 30GB limit, we'll add a surcharge of £3 per GB for the remainder of your data allowance.

To keep you in the loop, we'll send you a text when you've used 80% and 100% of your standard monthly allowances and 30GB Roaming data limit. This gives you control over your data usage and helps you manage it. You can also set a bill cap to control how much you spend.
